Beth Sholom Lifecare Community Communication System
The Challenge:
Beth Sholom is a premier health care facility for Richmond area seniors. Four buildings over 16 acres provide a comfortable residence for all segments of senior living.
Resolution of critical and life threatening situations in the “community” such as 911 calls and 3am doctor consults require a rock solid communications system by an experienced vendor. In 2000 (and new expansion in 2011) Beth Sholom required a system to meet facility expansion needs.
The System Solution:
Three (3) Iwatsu ECS PBX nodes networked over managed VOIP using campus fiber connections.
Over 200 feature rich digital staff phones and simple “home style” resident phones are in use.
An advanced unified messaging system provides voice mails as audio WAV files and faxes as PDF images to their email inboxes and smart phones.
A local call logging system combined with special billing software designed for their carrier provides two independent data sources for accurate resident phone call billing.
Benefits:
- Rock solid 24/7/365 design meets rigorous industry standards for healthcare use.
- Designed 10+ years lifespan of PBX provides outstanding value for customer.
- Cost for system and redundant utilities are offset by rebilling of residential phone service.
System Reliability Features
- Dual PRI call path allows for facility failure. Local alarms on each PRI alert maintenance of immediate failure.
- Independent battery backup allows for utility and generator failure.
- “Legendary Reliability” Iwatsu PBX hardware combined with telecom hardened “Wind River”* Operating Systems.
