Location in Network

T1 smart jack - Incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) T1 smart jack card. The absolute edge. If provided, it's by the Incumbent carrier. Not an IP device.

Edge - First IP Routable device closest to the carrier. Generally supplied by a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC). This is what Infotel Systems needs to monitor the most. If this fails, it's a major carrier issue.

Customer - The device just past the carrier edge device. Connected to the carrier edge device. Customer owned.Example: Firewall or ISDN BRI NT1.

Endpoints -Telephone system, Telephones, PC's etc. These also have lights such as a power light and a display

If the Verizon T1 smart jack card does not have normal status lights	This won't work !	Nor will this!

Carrier Trouble Reporting Process

	Call your carrier or vendor.
	Report change of status lights and refer to this page.
	Request non-obtrusive then obtrusive tests (ping, web, telnet, loopback ) to the listed device. Get a service ticket #
	Discuss environmental issues that affect circuit "it fails when ever it rains". A Verizon truck is outside. Recap history of carrier repairs.
	Ask the carrier to access your customer equipment (if possible) .

If not Fixed or if the Problem is Chronic Contact Us

	Get a service ticket number from us! We can not track without a service ticket.
	Recap above tests to service ticket taker. Accurate information in our service system is critical to fast resolution.
	If we don't have an answer, we won't necessarily update you as we are busy working the problem.
