Get Listed Correctly in the Verizon White & Yellow Pages Directories

The Richmond Verizon Yellow Pages and white pages close date is 10/8/2004. Other directories are constantly updated. Please follow this checklist in the order written to verify the accuracy of various databases that feed Verizon white & yellow pages listings and 911, 411, etc. The next Verizon white pages directory will have combined residential & business listings, not separate sections as in the past. Thus, you may wish to bold your listings.

This document pertains to you if in the past year you have:

-changed your telephone service to another carrier.
-changed your voice service (installed a voice & data T1 or digital service).
-moved and/or changed your telephone number.
-had directory listing errors.

Get a correct Verizon Yellow Pages contract with no penciled changes. Any Yellow Pages document that states "change request" is not an acceptable verification of Yellow Pages. You must have a "proof". Yellow pages is advertising. Your dial tone carrier's business office has nothing to do with yellow Pages display ads and is only responsible for your free Yellow Pages in column ad. If the Yellow Pages contract has any errors, you must check that the under laying white pages listings are correct.

If your telephone service is with Verizon, call the Verizon business office number listed on your bill. Request a copy of your customer service record. This record will show your listing. Also verify the correct name on your Verizon bill.

If your telephone service is with a competitive carrier, call your carrier's business office and get a "White Page Directory Listing Verification Report" (LVR) proof of your white pages listings. The LVR is provided from Verizon to your carriers in electronic format. The LVR provides a list of all listings that currently exist in the Verizon Information Services database for CLEC. If you have had service installed after 09/01/2004, request a recent LVR or ask for a manual check of the Verizon listing database. Make sure the carrier's white pages listings, as described above, are correct since Verizon white pages drive the Verizon yellow pages. Verizon yellow pages won't provide an in-column ad if the phone number is not in the Verizon Information Services database.

Provide written advertising exhibits and changes to your yellow pages rep via fax.

Call 911 and ask them to verify name and address information. It's OK to do this. Remain calm! Wednesday morning is a good time to test. Saturday night at 11pm is not.

Check 411 directory listings with Verizon 411 and also your carrier's 411 service if not Verizon. Make the agent manually provide you the listings. (Don't use the automated voice response system.) Ask for all listings, as it is possible an extra unwanted number may have been published.

Test outbound caller ID Name. From your business, call a Verizon landline phone with Caller ID Name service.

Check www.superpages.com. This information is in not in "real-time" as is 411. Report errors to the contact on the website NOT the Verizon business office.
